Christie’s marquee week totals $864 million

Christie’s closed out its Fall Marquee Week of 20th and 21st Century Art Sales, realizing a total of $864,049,952 across five live auctions and one online auction over the course of six days. Monet’s masterpiece headlines the week selling for $74 million and 16 artist records were set including Fernando Botero, Joan Mitchell, Richard Diebenkorn. In total, the sales were sold 96% by value and 103% hammer against low estimate. The sales celebrated a momentous era in art history, beginning with the defining movements of the revolutionary Impressionists to the cutting-edge contemporary stars of today, anchored by the collections of iconic filmmaker Ivan Reitman and music industry legend Jerry Moss.
